Most things we write come out of a moment of enthusiasm

Autumn Leaves

This photo was taken almost exactly one year ago by my boyfriend. It is in the Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens at the start of April, on a damp day. As we left I remember there was a wedding happening in a grassy clearing, and I thought how lovely it would be to have a mad hatter/high tea wedding reception in a garden, with picnic rugs and futons, or something like that. Cupcakes and flowers, with a hint of Willy Wonka in there too.

It is autumn now, the leaves are changing colour and the ones on the tree in our front garden are blowing into our front door, which irritates le boyfriend like nothing else. he has taken to willing the rosemary to grow faster, so that it will create a shield and he can stop sweeping the threshold whenever he gets home.

Do you ever wonder if the stars shine down for you?

Float down, like autumn leaves

Hush now, close your eyes before the sleep

And you’re miles away, and yesterday

you were here, with me…
